Victoria Village Action for Neighbourhood Change (ANC) is part of United Way of Greater Toronto’s neighbourhood development strategy across the city. It supports the development of resident leadership to create positive change in the community they live in. ANC is based out of the Victoria Park Hub in the Victoria Village neighbourhood. We actively work with individuals and groups in the neighbourhood to be part of decision-making processes and building community partnerships, in particular leverage resources through developing and supporting local networks. Our community engagement strategy is based on intensive research and community mapping, implementing a resident-led agenda that is renewed every year with participatory community planning and development processes. This includes a Resident Action Plan that is a responsive framework for community action by residents, defining neighborhood priorities to guide the scope of our work. Each spring, Resident Action Grants are also made available to provide seed funding for community initiatives meeting our priorities. Year-round, ANC works actively with groups and community partners including the City of Toronto and other key decision-makers to identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and infrastructure in Victoria Village.
Find out about our innovative youth engagement model! ANC is a collaborative space for youth-led initiative in the community. From peace-building through the performing arts to creating awareness of healthy relationships through hair and beauty workshops, we support creative peer-based approaches. Connect to our community safety youth animation project, safeTYnet, on Twitter handle @safetynet416. Our youth training arm is currently in development to create a platform for sharing best practices.
