Latinx Parents for Change is a project designed to build on leadership skills, deepen understanding of school governance and promote the active participation of Toronto’s Latinx families in school and community life.
Working Women Community Centre and The Mennonite New Life Centre offer FREE training for Latinx parents to become active advocates for their children’s education. During the program, parents learn how the Ontario Education System works, and how to get involved in school councils and/or parental involvement committees to initiate change in their children’s schools. Parents are required to commit to the full 27-hour training. Childcare and tokens are provided for participants.
Our next training sessions will begin in September 2017. They will be held at our Gladstone downtown location, with the days to be determined by the group.
