On Your Mark Orientation Session (Section 4)

STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK UP

It is also the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that the child is picked up after the tutoring session, on time or have been given your permission to travel home on their own.  Tutors are not allowed to walk or drive your child home; this is a safety and liability issue for both the tutor and student. Students will not be allowed to wait outside to be picked up; they are to remain inside the school.  Tutors and Supervisors first need to see the parent or guardian before releasing the student to ensure that the student is being released to an authorized parent or guardian (according to the ‘Student Permission Pickup Form’ you completed). On Your Mark is not responsible for any pick-ups made outside of the school doors if this occurs.

Saturday Parents

DOORS LOCK AT 10:00AM

As you know our start time for the tutoring sessions is 9:45am sharp.  Volunteers are travelling a distance to work with your child, we ask you aim to be at the sessions on time.

In order to ensure the safety of our students and volunteers the MAIN DOORS of the school will be LOCKED after parents, students and volunteers arrive, at 10:00am and re-opened at 11:45am.

Please be aware, because of our occasionally limited Site Supervisor staff we cannot guarantee that a Site Supervisor will be present consistently from 10:00am to 11:45am in the Main Lobby to open the doors for late-comers.  Our priority is the supervision upstairs while the doors are locked as we now have over 100 students in the Saturday program.  We are looking at enrolling more volunteers that can manage the Main Lobby area and verify who the person is before opening the door for after 10am.  There is chance that you may have to wait 5-10 minutes for a Site Supervisor to open the door.

**when bad weather is a factor for volunteers/parents/students arriving late we will do our best to have a Site Supervisor available to open the doors & verify late-comers.**

TUTORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OPEN A LOCKED DOOR, ONLY A SITE SUPERVISOR, AS THEY WILL THEN VERIFY WHO THE PERSON IS BEFORE LETTING THEM IN THE SCHOOL.

If a tutor sees a person knocking on the door they will then find a Program Coordinator or Site Supervisor upstairs, who will then verify who it is.  We will be placing signs on the doors each Saturday with this information as well.

DROP-OFF

Parents/Guardians are asked to accompany their child into the school and WAIT WITH THE CHILD(REN) for their tutor to arrive (unless student has been given permission on Student Permission Pick-Up Form to arrive and go home on their own).  On Your Mark is not responsible for the arrival of students into the school.  When you arrive in the main lobby please stand with your child(ren) in the appropriate area (signs will be posted on walls based on students grade).  Site Supervisors are on site to help you and answer questions.  Students will then be chaperoned by a Site Supervisor to their assigned classroom to meet their tutor.  We ask parents/guardians to accompany their child(ren) to meet the tutor on the first day in the classroom.   After meeting the tutor for the first time parents/guardians can then communicate with the tutor at 12pm when students are picked up.

PICK-UP

Parents/Guardians are asked to pick up their child INSIDE the school at 12pm sharp. Students WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WAIT OUTSIDE TO BE PICKED UP; they are to remain inside the school.  Tutors and Site Supervisors first need to see the parent or guardian before releasing the student to ensure that the student is being released to an authorized parent or guardian (according to the ‘Student Permission Pickup Form’ you completed). (this does not apply to the student if student has been given permission on Student Permission Pick-Up Form to arrive and go home on their own).  On Your Mark is not responsible for any pick-ups made outside of the school doors if this occurs.

After School Parents

Students do not need to leave their school to attend the afterschool tutoring sessions (unless they are arriving from another school, St. Helen or Rawlinson).  The Letter to Start will inform parents were students are to meet their tutor (ie. The library, school office, etc).  The Student Permission Pick-Up Form parents completed on the application will determine how the student goes home after the session.  Only the person listed on the form will be allowed to pick up the student.  Make sure if you are completing the form you also list your name as someone who has permission to pick up your child.

Any person unfamiliar to Program Staff and/or Tutor and/or Site Supervisor will be required to show proof of identification even if they are on the authorized pick up list. The child can be released to someone other than those listed above only with express permission from the parent.  In this case the parents(s) will be contacted by phone in order to obtain permission before releasing the child. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that their child has arrangements to get home safely. Program Staff, Tutors and Site Supervisors are not allowed to walk or drive your child(ren) home.

Students are to be picked up at the end of the session by parent(s)/guardian(s) at the Main Doors of the school.  PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WAIT IN THE SCHOOL DURING THE SESSION.  Parents/Guardians can return at the end of the session and pick up their student(s) at the main doors.  This is the school policy as well as the programs policy.

If parents need to wait at the school for the tutoring session to end (St. Helen or Rawlinson) parents must sit and wait in the school lobby.  Parents are NOT ALLOWED to open the door for other persons to enter or wander the hallways.
