Our Strategic Plan

In September 2003, the Working Women Community Centre Board and Management Team participated in an extensive exercise to define our strategic priorities.

Desired outcomes were identified for the next 3 years. They included that the Working Women Community Centre become:

  • A leader in community partnership development;
  • An inclusive resource hub for community members;
  • A Centre with a reputable public profile and with stakeholders with a strong commitment to, and belief in, the organization's purpose;
  • A successful anchor in an innovative community centre for immigrant women in the west end of the city;
  • An organization with a strong and credible public policy voice.

The Board recognized and discussed key barriers and obstacles to achieving these outcomes.

While acknowledging these barriers, the Board confirmed the following strategic directions for the organization, in order of priority, for the period 2004-2006:

  • Effective programming based on our mission and community need;
  • Partnership leadership and development;
  • Co-facility building development and implementation;
  • Enhanced fundraising and resource development and
  • Branding/image development and an increased presence and voice.

We also recognized that effectively supporting these priorities required enhanced leadership as well as administrative and human resource capabilities.
